But there is a degree of opacity in how such committees function, he admits. Since official communication is routed through them, the operation rests on trust: that the committee will forward applications to the right place, in the best shape.

The solution, then, may be to outsource the process to an independent career services department, like the Indian School of Business ISB has, or hold a Career Expo for recruiters, as some B-schools in the West do.
